"Photobashing", now there's an interesting concept! Had I not read your comment on this piece, I never would've guessed it was made up of photos. Very beautifully done piece! You nailed the futuristic, painterly look perfectly.
Lovely! Was this in any way inspired by The Shard from Mirror's Edge?
This was so mindblowing that it made my heart fall out of by body and out through my butt.
isn't the tallest building in this pic, the shanghai world trade center? looks exactly the same!
Great lighting! It looks bright and filthy at the same time - like Hong Kong.
...damn. Your trash piles look pretty...I'm trying still comprehending the rest.
amazing work. love it
Another knockout! Great job!
surprised you didnt get a dd for that too! hahaa
Very impressive work I should try to make a picture like this
The blue building really looks like on I saw at Pudong in Shanghai.
Very nice piece.
Very nice piece.
That's because it is . These are part of sketches I am producing in preparation for something. This particular sketch is just focusing on mood, composition... it was quite a short turnaround. When I do the final piece I will be focusing on developing my own building designs. This process is called "photobashing" and it is very useful for achieving detailed and authentic results very quickly. 90% of this is photography, painted over to tie it all together. Give it a try, it's really fun and super effective!
I certainly will. But I think its takes lots of time and practise to get it to this level.
It's easier than you think, and builds valuable knowledge about shape, form, composition and perspective. Start out by finding a photo you like, with an angle you like and then build on that. Adding, chopping and erasing as you go. At times you need to paint over things to tie them together, adding atmosphere here and there to add depth. It can take a couple of hours, so you can produce about 3-4 of these in a day.
You did this... in your lunchtime? Man, I wish I had lunchtimes as productive and awesome as that.
